Christmas Cheers for the Kids
Kids know Christmas is the season of love, grace, and having fun. But poverty and the sickening thought of being away from home hindered their longing of having Christmas. And to their surprise, last December 30, 2009, Santa Kiwanis came. The air was filled with joy, smiles and thunder of applause when the Kiwanis Club of Chrysanthemum of Division IV-B, Philippine Luzon District brought cheers to a party. More than 200 kids along with their families were treated to a hearty yummy hamburger and pop soda, enjoyed games with prizes and had the first opportunity to play with the Jollibee mascot. Christmas… is really for children. These kids are whose families were victims of typhoon "Ondoy" and temporarily housed at the Filcera Evacuation Center, Barangay San Vicente, San Pedro, Laguna.
The Christmas merrymaking was made possible with contributions coming from philanthropist Kiwanians of Division 3 of California-Nevada-Hawaii District, Kiwanis Club of Fil-Am Glendale, KC Glendale, KC La Canada, KC Greater Highland Park, as benefactors.
Indeed, it has been a profound Christmas for kind-hearted Kiwanians knowing that they have shared their precious dollars and the kids being housed at Filcera Evacuation Center as they embody the true meaning of Christmas – giving in a season of grace and love. Benevolent Kiwanians, you made a difference in the lives of these children.
